Canberra’s extreme temperature fluctuations—from freezing winter nights to scorching summer days—cause significant ground movement. In addition, the ACT’s clay-heavy soils expand and contract dramatically with seasonal moisture shifts. Under these conditions, poorly laid concrete will quickly bow, shift, and crack. At Realityscapes CBR, we prevent cracking by executing rigorous site preparation. We excavate to the correct depth, compact a solid roadbase sub-grade, lay heavyduty steel mesh reinforcement, and cut precise expansion joints to allow the concrete to expand and contract safely. We don’t take shortcuts because we build for durability.
