What is a Scarab Bug? It’s a beetle basically. This pic on the left looks like a good old Aussie Christmas Beetle but in fact it’s an Argentinian Scarab Beetle which is classified as a pest species.

Chemical Treatments For Scarab

Look for products specifically labeled for grubs. Apply these in late summer when larvae are small and most vulnerable. Remember to follow the instructions carefully to avoid harming beneficial insects

For prevention, apply Acelepryn in late spring or early autumn to target young grubs before they cause damage. For existing grubs, use nematodes or Bifenthrin-based products, which kill grubs on contact.

As they say, prevention is always better than the cure so we recommend you pick up a bucket of Acelepryn from any garden supply retailer and apply as directed on to your entire lawn in late spring. This is when the lavae are actively growing and getting ready to become beetles in summer.

Natural Remedies For Scarab

Nature offers several ways to tackle scarab bugs. Try using beneficial nematodes, which are tiny worms that prey on grubs. They’re a safe option, as they target pests without harming your lawn. Simply mix them with water and apply them to affected areas. Another method is introducing milky spore, a bacterium targeting grubs. It’s a long-term solution that builds up in the soil over time.
